The CP2102 USB to UART TTL Bridge Controller is a small bridging device for updating RS-232 designs to USB, and features minimal components and PCB space, while offering maximum efficiency with full speed USB 2.0 functionality. The board has a USB transceiver, an oscillator, a 1KB programmable EEPROM and asynchronous serial data bus with full modem control signals. These features are all packed into a tiny 42x15mm package that needs no external USB Components or power supplies to operate.

The device is USB-powered and uses clever firmware that includes all RS-232 control and handshaking signals. This means you don’t have to stress about updating the firmware, and can simply plug it directly into a USB drive on a computer, access it as a virtual COM port, and then update designs from RS-232 to USB. To get set up for operations, the device simply requires the installation of basic drivers, after which it can utilise various standard Baud Rates between 300bps and 1Mbits for serial communications. This removes the need for RS232 to TTL Converterslike the MAX232, ensuring a far more convenient and accessible way of updating RS-232 designs – especially for laptops without serial ports.
