Aqara, a leading brand of smart home products in the market, is constantly focusing on improvements. Following the success of the Aqara Hub M2, the predecessor to the M3 hub, the manufacturer has made it a priority to retain core features such as the Zigbee hub and the ability to control the hub via infrared, and has made significant progress with the addition of Thread and Bluetooth protocols.

So, the M3 hub has Thread, Zigbee 3.0, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and infrared connectivity, significantly expanding the Aqara ecosystem. In addition to a wide range of Aqara accessories and 360° infrared compatible home devices, it can also be compatible with Matter compatible devices from other manufacturers (the number of compatible devices will be continuously expanded in the future). All of this can be used in an automation environment, enabling a unified and comprehensive smart home experience. In addition to its versatile Matter compatibility, the M3 has also been upgraded to a Thread Border Router, so all its hardware capabilities allow this versatile hub to become a truly future-proof control centre. In addition, the M3 boasts 2.4GHz/5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi and Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity for extra flexibility and stability.

Designed for decentralized operation, the M3 hub also offers great capabilities for local control and automation. Its significant eMMC storage enables local, end-to-end encrypted data storage and locally processed automation, reducing system latency and minimizing dependency on cloud services. Like its predecessor, the M3 hub can also connect to the Aqara Home application over the local area network (LAN), ensuring continuous control of the Aqara system in the event of cloud service or internet outages. If an extra M3 hub is installed on the network, automation can be automatically mirrored, preparing the new hub to take over the network if the primary M3 fails.

Additional features: The M3 also has a powerful 95 dB speaker that can be used as a siren for the Aqara Home Alert System or for other audible alerts. It is not equipped with a camera or microphone for privacy. It also supports local, end-to-end encrypted storage of device logs and user data, ensuring that events in the home remain local.

Installation: The M3 includes a bracket with screws for flexible installation options, from horizontal placement to wall and ceiling mounting. MagicPair is also supported for easy connection to Aqara Home.
